A Forensic Anthropologist has to be intimately familiar with all 206 bones in the human body. In order to determine how a person died when it is many, many years after the death and nothing is left of the body except bones and sometimes not all of the bones the investigator has to know the bones. But what happens when the investigator is not well qualified to know the bones. Or what happens if the investigator intentionally misuses the bones to further the career and make lots of money instead of solve crimes?
Dr. Temperance Brennan’s career is nearly torpedoed and she nearly loses her life when just such an unscrupulous colleague tries to use the bones of four murder victims to undermine her in order to further a career of her own. But, in this fascinating tale Dr. Temp works with the bones with her greater knowledge and turns the tables on her nemesis in the end.
The scientific detail that is presented in the course of crime solution and the complicated manipulation of the three crooks in this story make it a most interesting and engaging read. I rate “206 Bones” at a 7 of 10 on the Weaver meter.
