Erick and Marco, extremely active and clever terrorists, are forced to abort their plans to blow up gas tanks in Duisburg. The two flee from Germany after their terrorist teams have been captured. They leave on a long journey by motor camper across Europe and the Near East in order to stay out of sight while they make plans for a future and much bigger terror attack that will plant explosives in the attaché case of a ranking American diplomat and blow up the President of the United States.
Bob Renwick publicly resigns his NATO position so that he can track down the master-mind of this terror organization, only known by his alias “Theo”. As Bob gets closer and puts together links between Theo and a German businessman and the field agents, Marco and Eric he comes under Theo’s attention and attempts are made on his life. But Bob manages to catch up to Theo’s moves and bring him down.
In the final chapters Bob must discover how the plan was to have worked to assassinate the President and his staff. He discovers the explosive loaded attaché case was being secreted into the home of the diplomat by one of his enemy agents from the past. He confronts her and holds her while his fellow spies dismantle the bomb in the attaché case.
In the end Bob reveals his plan to marry Nina, the beautiful and bright daughter of the diplomat with whom he has fallen in love during their adventures.
“The Hidden Target” is a very complex piece of spy mystery and deserves a 7 of 10 on the Weaver meter.
